On April 21, 2012, the RTF lent tools and management expertise that empowered 23 young people from the Boys & Girls Club to build a brand new hiking trail in the Southwood community. An equal number of adult volunteers from Comcast and UVa mentored the young people, and together they cleared and side-cut a new trail, dug long-buried trash out of the forest, discovered new wildlife, and learned about teamwork. The new trail adds to a network of trails the young people had already built for their community and will eventually connect to Biscuit Run State Park.
