CAMBC Work Party on O-Hill

  • 24 Mar 2018
  • 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Observatory Hill

Our friends at the Charlottesville Area Mountain Bike Club will be leading trail work on Observatory Hill: 'We’ll be building a new trail leading from the chain link fence just across from the parking area (above the water tank) and connecting to the sustainable trail we created in January (the one that used to be an eroded rooty fence-line trail). Yes, that’s correct. . . we received permission to cut through the chain link fence that has for so many years caused everyone to grunt uphill on the road just so we could drop back down that rooty trail by the fence-line. This new connection is going to be so sweet!"

No experience is required and all hands are welcome and needed to make short work of building this new connecting trail.

  • Who: Every able body who cares about giving back to trails on OHill.
  • What: Move leaves and dirt, create a great trail. No previous experience necessary.
  • When: Saturday, March 17, 9:00 AM to noon. Some of us will be meeting at Bodo’s on Emmet at 8:00 to grab breakfast, then load tools from the CAMBC shed at 8:30, meeting at the top of Ohill at 9:00.  Parking and carpooling from the CAMBC shed for those who are interested; it might get crowded parking on Ohill. (The CAMBC and RTF sheds are located off Morton Drive, past Bodos and behind the English Inn.)
  • Where: McCormick Road above the water tower and just below the Observatory on Ohill.
  • Why: If we don’t do it, who will? Gather with friends, meet great people, build it and then ride it.
  • How: If you don’t know already we’ll teach you.

Unless it’s drenching rain, we won’t cancel. Dress for the weather, wear sturdy footwear, bring gloves and snacks if you want. We’ll have gloves for those who need them and we’ll provide all the tools.
